Today it was World Book Day at Woodfield. Year one all made an amazing effort with their world book day costumes and we had some really interesting characters! We all got a chance to share our favourite books and talk about our favourite characters. What a wonderful day!
Today we have been practising counting in groups of 2. First we practised counting in twos with the counting stick. Then we made groups of 2 with the cubes. We used the ten frames to make different groups of two e.g. 5 groups of 2.
Today Year 1 have taken part in a workshop all about managing their feelings. We met Lenny the Alien who taught us how to be kind others and we worked as a team. We found out that we should always ask for help from a trusted adult when we need it and never give up when things get tough.
In Year 1 we have been practising number bonds. Today we practised using number lines to find the missing numbers in the number bonds. We worked in pairs and used our skills counting on and starting with the largest number.
This week KS1 performed their Christmas play called ‘Jesus Christmas Party’. The acting and the singing was excellent and we had a wonderful time performing for the whole school and families. Well done KS1!
We have been studying the work of Picasso. We found out Picasso is an abstract artist. He uses lots of colours and shapes in his pictures. Year 1 used crayons and worked in groups to create their own Picasso style pictures.
Year 1 were very lucky to have a tennis taster session from Robin Park. We worked in teams and practised our basic travelling skills and skills using a tennis racket. It was lots of fun! Thank you Robin Park!
